Houston recently got a new music venue designed by SCHAUM / SHIEH, a small architectural collaboration between Houston and New York. The White Oak Music Hall is part of a slew of music venues designed by the company, including The Lawn and Raven Tower Pavilion. The pavilion, a converted storage room, will be reopened shortly as the final stage of the entire music event project.

The project is a seven acre collection of new and adapted buildings, open air structures, landscaped areas, and paved and paved surfaces along the Little White Oak Bayou. The White Oak Music Hall was completed last year and houses two function rooms with a capacity of 1200 people.

The White Oak Lawn is a 3,800-seat amphitheater designed to frame the landscape around the bayou and skyline. The space consists of balconies and a roof terrace, which gives the venue a vertical orientation and supports an intimate audience experience.

Like the industrial buildings that traditionally house rock’n’roll venues, the music hall is built for intensive use. Robust materials have been selected to withstand the wear and tear of the expected rough handling.

The final venue was converted from an existing metal warehouse and a unique steel tower into the Raven Tower Pavilion. The pavilion will reopen as a bar and small performance space over the next several months, and features large, arched openings cut into the steel building for natural ventilation and views.
