Suspect arrested after man was fatally shot in a single day in northwest Houston, MPs say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was arrested Friday on charges of gunning down another man in a residence in northwest Houston.

Harris County Precinct 1 police responded to a report of a malfunction in a residential building on the 7300 block of Alabonson Road around 9 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, the units found a man who was gunshot.

Officials said Kenneth Boyd, 33, got into an argument with Darius Smith, 37. At some point during the altercation, Smith shot Boyd.

After the shooting, Smith left the scene in his vehicle and reported the incident to authorities. He said he shot Boyd because Boyd suffocated him.

Officials said testimony did not support Smith’s claim that Boyd suffocated him.

Boyd was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Smith was arrested and charged with Boyd’s murder, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet.
